Personal Challenge Badge

Some ideas for the Scouts for their Personal Challenge Badge if they are struggling to think of anything.

 

Community Service

  1. Organise a Small Fundraising Event: Plan and host a fundraising event for your Scout group or a local charity.
  2. Volunteer with the Elderly: Spend time helping and engaging with residents at a local care home.
  3. Organise a Charity Collection: Collect donations from the public for a larger fundraising event.
  4. Volunteer at a Local Food Bank: Assist in sorting and distributing food to those in need.
  5. Complete a Responsible Pet Ownership Programme: Participate in a programme such as ones offered by the Kennel Club or Blue Cross.
  6. Organise a Shoe Box Appeal: Collect and send shoe boxes filled with gifts to those in need.
  7. Volunteer to Lead a Food Collection: Organise and manage a food drive for a local charity.

 

Environmental Initiatives

  1. Set Up and Run a Recycling Programme: Implement a recycling initiative at Scout HQ or school.
  2. Organise a Community Clean-Up: Lead a clean-up event in your local park or neighbourhood.
  3. Plant a Community Garden: Create and maintain a garden in a public space.
  4. Volunteer to Help with Gardening: Assist a neighbour or community member with their garden or allotment.

 

Personal Development

  1. Learn a New Skill: Pick up a new skill and demonstrate it to the other Scouts.
  2. Reach a Target Grade: Improve in a challenging school subject and reach a set grade.
  3. Complete a First Aid Course: Obtain a first aid certification outside of Scouting.
  4. Achieve a Beginner's Radio Transmitting Licence: Study for and pass the beginner's radio licence exam.
  5. Take a Makaton Course: Learn sign language through a Makaton course.
  6. Learn Basic Coding: Understand coding basics and create a simple program or game.

 

Creativity and Arts

  1. Design an Anti-Bullying Campaign: Create a campaign and video for anti-bullying awareness, and present it to the Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts.
  2. Write and Illustrate a Short Story: Share your story or comic with the Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts.
  3. Write, Perform, and Record a Song: Produce a song and present it to the Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts.
  4. Create a Historical Documentary: Research a local historical site or event, create a documentary, and present it to the Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts.
  5. Create and Sell Christmas Cards: Design cards to sell at a fair, with proceeds going to charity.
  6. Create an Online Art Blog: Showcase your artwork and that of your friends on a blog.

 

Leadership and Organisation

  1. Organise and Run a 5-a-Side Football Tournament: Plan and execute a football event.
  2. Organise a Treasure Hunt: Create and run a community treasure hunt using coded clues.
  3. Plan and Lead a Scout Meeting: Take charge of organising and running a troop meeting.
  4. Organise and Run a Scout Camp: Plan, organise, and lead a Scout camping trip, including activities and logistics.
  5. Organise and Run a Sponsored Walk: Plan and lead a sponsored walk for charity.
  6. Organise a Presentation at a Primary School: Prepare and deliver a presentation on a topic of interest.

 

Physical Activities

  1. Participate in a ParkRun: Join and complete a local ParkRun event for a month.
  2. Improve Swimming Skills: Set and achieve a swimming goal.
  3. Train for and Complete a Triathlon: Prepare for and participate in a triathlon.
  4. Complete the Rookie Lifeguard Programme: Obtain a lifeguard certification through the programme.
  5. Achieve a Martial Arts Grading: Train for and pass a grading exam in martial arts.
  6. Take Part in a Sponsored Walk: Organise and participate in a sponsored walk for charity.

 

Cultural and Educational

  1. Visit Another Scout Troop: Learn about another troop's history and activities, then report back.
  2. Volunteer to Assist a Younger Sibling: Help with their school projects and present your learnings.
  3. Organise a Cultural Exchange Event: Plan an event where Scouts learn about and celebrate different cultures.

 

Personal Challenges

  1. Give Up a Personal Comfort: Forego sweets, mobile phone, or another comfort for a month.
  2. Maintain a Tidy Bedroom: Keep your room clean and organised for two months.
